Musomusicacademy Ltd: Gentle Paths, Real Adventures

We're creating accessible hiking experiences for mature walkers who want to explore Kerry's stunning mountain passes and alpine lakes at their own pace.

How We Started

Musomusicacademy Ltd began with a simple observation and a genuine need in Kerry's walking community.

Back in 2017, our founder noticed something at the local outdoor shops. Pensioners and mature walkers weren't getting the information they needed for routes that actually suited their fitness level and pace. There were guidebooks for "serious hikers" and casual park walks — but nothing in between. Nothing designed around the real concerns of people with decades of walking experience but perhaps less stamina than they used to have.

We started by organizing small group walks on Healy Pass and around Glanmore Lake. These weren't formal tours. They're just people exploring beautiful terrain together, stopping whenever we wanted, sharing knowledge. It's been remarkable how many experienced walkers have never tackled these routes because they weren't sure if they'd manage it.

Today we've guided hundreds of people through these mountains. We've seen folks aged 65-82 complete routes they thought were beyond them. We've watched people rediscover what they loved about hiking — which isn't rushing to a summit, it's being outside with good people in a place that takes your breath away.

Our Philosophy

What Makes Our Routes Different

We've designed every aspect around what actually matters for comfortable, confident hiking in your 60s, 70s, and beyond.

Realistic Distances

Healy Pass loop is 7km at a gentle pace. Glanmore Lake circuit runs 6km. Not "easy" but completely achievable without heroic effort. We've timed them hundreds of times.

No Rush

We allocate 3-4 hours for routes that fit in that window comfortably. Built-in stops. Time to actually look at the landscape, have a conversation, catch your breath without feeling hurried.

Clear Navigation

We don't rely on phone apps or technical navigation. Every route is marked clearly, well-maintained, and we provide detailed maps beforehand so there's no anxiety about getting lost.

Fitness Honesty

Some elevation. Some rocky sections. Not flat walks in a park. But we're realistic about what "gentle" actually means — and we prepare you properly.

Weather First

Kerry's weather changes fast. We monitor forecasts, provide detailed guidance on what to bring, and aren't shy about rescheduling when conditions aren't right for safe, enjoyable walking.

Group That Clicks

We keep groups small — 8-12 people maximum. You're walking with peers who understand where you're at. Not a commercial tour. A shared experience with people who actually get it.

What We Believe

Our Core Principles

These aren't marketing slogans. They guide every decision we make when organizing routes and working with walkers.

Experience Matters

You've been hiking for decades. We respect that knowledge. We're not teaching you how to walk — we're opening routes you've wondered about.

Honesty Over Marketing

We'll tell you if a route's too steep, too technical, or requires gear you don't have. No pressure to book if it's not right for you.

Safety Always

First aid trained. Proper emergency protocols. Real knowledge of Kerry's terrain and weather patterns. You're in capable hands.

Respect the Land

We follow Leave No Trace principles. These mountains are shared — with wildlife, with local farmers, with future walkers. We walk lightly.

Genuine Connection

This is about the people you meet and the conversations that happen at a mountain lake. Not collecting summits. Creating memories.

Realistic Goals

The goal isn't to conquer mountains — it's to enjoy them at a pace that lets you actually be present in the moment.

What We've Built

Years of Knowledge, Hundreds of Walkers

Since 2017, musomusicacademy Ltd has developed a deep understanding of what makes these routes work for mature walkers.

We've walked Healy Pass in every season. We know which sections get slippery when wet, where spring water creates mud patches, how afternoon clouds roll in from the southwest. We've learned the differences between someone who's fit but hasn't hiked in five years versus someone who walks regularly but struggles with steep terrain. We've developed partnerships with local guides who've spent their whole lives in these mountains.

Our approach to Glanmore Lake comes from watching hundreds of people navigate its circuit. We know where the trickiest footing is. We've identified the best spots to rest and take in the view. We understand the quiet spots that feel special versus the crowded sections.

We've also learned what doesn't work. Too many "gentle" routes are designed for people in their 40s with "just take it easy" messaging. We don't do that. Our routes are genuinely appropriate for your 60s and 70s — not just the same walk with an apology attached.

Moving Forward

Our Commitment to You

We're not trying to be everything to everyone. We're focused on doing one thing really well.

Musomusicacademy Ltd will keep creating routes that honor both the landscape and your realistic pace. We're committed to staying small enough that you're never just a booking number. Our guides know walkers by name. We remember that someone mentioned their knee acting up last season.

We're also committed to keeping things simple. You don't need expensive gear or technical training to walk with us. You need appropriate footwear, water, layers, and honest interest in being outdoors. That's it. Everything else, we've thought through.

The mountains will still be there when you're 75. We want to make sure you're confident enough — and equipped enough — to explore them. That's what we do.
